Randomness for Hump Day

... because I've been surfing around and finding interesting things for weeks and not sharing. (Bad Blogger!)

  • the SNL "Lazy Sunday" video. Obviously, this one's growing moldy, but still I snicker. Gotta love a rapped Aaron Burr reference.

  • Michael Ian Black writes for McSweeneys! Funny.

  • The Golden Globes were on Monday, and quite frankly were a let down. (Congrats, Hugh Laurie, you adorable man you!) Aside from the dazzlement of Hugh's win and Emma Thompson's hilarious intro for the new Pride and Prejudice's nomination, I have to say, meh. Not even wacky fashion. BUT a deliciously wacky theme song. Oh, for Jon Stewart to pin that to the wall come Oscar night!

  • Behold, the Gallery of Regrettable Food! It's the commentary that makes it art. Highlights include "Fun with Coffee" and "Knudsen's Very Best."

  • Don't ask me how, when or why I found this poem, but here is a depressing offering from Sylvia Plath whose opening lines have been making the rounds in my head for days. I have nothing to do with explosions.

  • Currently reading this, and let me just say, how I could have gone through life and cheerfully never read either author is now a befuddlement to me. Nothing short of brilliant, so far. Reminds me a little bit of a Peter Ustinov book I read in high school, but more funny. Oh and, Shantaram? My nine-hour flight to paradise this weekend is looking at you.

  • Somehow I've caught Pamie's Jollibees fever. There is something so disturbing-yet-amusing about that restaurant; I'm riveted. And apparently, it's as disgusting as it looks. Ah, well.
