Randomness for Hump Day

... because I've been surfing around and finding interesting things for weeks and not sharing. (Bad Blogger!)

  • the SNL "Lazy Sunday" video. Obviously, this one's growing moldy, but still I snicker. Gotta love a rapped Aaron Burr reference.

  • Michael Ian Black writes for McSweeneys! Funny.

  • The Golden Globes were on Monday, and quite frankly were a let down. (Congrats, Hugh Laurie, you adorable man you!) Aside from the dazzlement of Hugh's win and Emma Thompson's hilarious intro for the new Pride and Prejudice's nomination, I have to say, meh. Not even wacky fashion. BUT a deliciously wacky theme song. Oh, for Jon Stewart to pin that to the wall come Oscar night!

  • Behold, the Gallery of Regrettable Food! It's the commentary that makes it art. Highlights include "Fun with Coffee" and "Knudsen's Very Best."

  • Don't ask me how, when or why I found this poem, but here is a depressing offering from Sylvia Plath whose opening lines have been making the rounds in my head for days. I have nothing to do with explosions.

  • Currently reading this, and let me just say, how I could have gone through life and cheerfully never read either author is now a befuddlement to me. Nothing short of brilliant, so far. Reminds me a little bit of a Peter Ustinov book I read in high school, but more funny. Oh and, Shantaram? My nine-hour flight to paradise this weekend is looking at you.

  • Somehow I've caught Pamie's Jollibees fever. There is something so disturbing-yet-amusing about that restaurant; I'm riveted. And apparently, it's as disgusting as it looks. Ah, well.

Four jobs you've had in your life: assistant florist (sucked), swimming instructor-cum-lifeguard (spent two summers with kiddie claw scratches around my neck and chlorine hair, not fun), substitute Latin teacher (meh), corporate graphic designer (procrastinating from it)

Four movies you could watch over and over: (only four??) Charade, Casablanca, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Singing in the Rain

Four places you've lived: Philadelphia, Cleveland (never, ever again), Baltimore, Princeton

Four TV shows you love to watch: (only four?? seriously??) House, Alias, Lost, Gilmore Girls

Four TV shows you love to watch that are off the air: (had to add that, considering the supreme unfairness of the last question) Coupling (UK version, thank you very much), As Time Goes By, Remington Steele, Fawlty Towers

Four places you've been on vacation: How about the four places I went the summer after I graduated high school? Budapest, Vienna, Cesky Krumlov, Prague

Four websites you visit daily: Bookslut, IMDb, the Movie Blog, Chicklit

Four of your favorite foods: Avanti Loaf, my dad’s homemade meat pierogi (yes, I'm spoiled, and I love it, yum), Edy’s Double Fudge Brownie ice cream, fresh Jersey corn-on-the-cob

Four places you'd rather be: Venice, London, Vancouver, Hawaii (where I will be in three days if I don’t freeze into a human popsicle/drown from rain beforehand)

If you haven't bothered with this yet and feel moved to: TAG. You're it.
